Felix Quinn travaille une librairie de livres anciens, dans sa famille depuis plusieurs générations. Il est marié à une très belle femme, Marisa, qui a quitté son ex-mari pour lui. Felix Quinn aime Marisa immodérément mais considère que l'amour à long terme ne peut durer. Encore plus avec Marisa, qui aime, à l'occasion, aller voir ailleurs. Mais dans leur relation, le secret n'est pas.

Howard Jacobson a parfaitement construit son roman et nous rends accros à ses personnages névrosés et néanmoins attachants. Un humour merveilleusement dosé et des anecdotes culturelles nous rendent dingues et loin de la simple trinité femme-mari-amants nous avons là un chef d'oeuvre !
À lire hésitation (sans se fier à la couverture... d'un certain goût) !!
